    SRISHTI AWARD PRESENTATION

    PRESS RELEASE

SRISHTI AWARD FOR L. RON HUBBARD

First time the award goes to foreigner

Hindi Bhawan, New Delhi, Tuesday, 6.3.07

     - This year’s Srishti Awards, presented on Tuesday evening in Hindi Bhawan by Mr. Ram Babu Sharma, President Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee, had a new aspect. For the first time a foreigner was awarded, and in this case in a new special category: Lifetime Achievement, to the American humanitarian and philosopher late L. Ron Hubbard. The award was received by Mr. Hubbard’s representative from Europe, Ms. Jetmira Kurti, who had arrived from Denmark.

The world has become a global village, and India is on a fast track of globalization. The cultural exchange has to follow along with it. It therefore seemed appropriate this year for the awards committee to start looking beyond the borders of India. They selected an awardee who has been a catalyst between Indian spiritual philosophy and Western science and culture.

More and more Indians are coming to know out about L. Ron Hubbard, and are fascinated how deeply he understood our culture and background, and how much he has actually done in his life to help people all over the world, including India.

Most known he is for his lifetime work, the practical spiritual philosophy called "Scientology" (means the study of knowledge.) The glamour of Hollywood comes to mind when the word Scientology is mentioned, but this is not what was considered.

Mr. Hubbard’s life and work warrants a much closer look. His achievements are considerable, and his scientific codifying of large parts of the humanities are a breakthrough for humanity.

Not many people know that Mr. L. Ron Hubbard has actually spent time in Asia during his youth in the 1920ies, studying the Veda’s and other Eastern philosophies. Later on he took up a formal education at George Washington University in Mathematics and Science. It is this unique combination of the spiritual wisdom of India with the systematic and scientific approach, which makes Scientology into a most practical and effective tool.

To explain a few words about Scientology: It is essentially form of spiritual counselling in which a trained Scientology practitioner helps a person with questions to explore his own mind and past - including the memory of past lifetimes. In doing so, the individual comes to his own conclusions and realizations about his life and finds great relief of burdens, while his IQ raises and his self confidence increases.

Today millions of Hindus, Muslims and Christians in more than 160 countries are using his practical wisdom of mind and soul to understand themselves and their fellow men deeper and better; and make them realize that different religions can join hands in an effort to make this world a better place. Since no deity or worship is prescribed in Scientology, but only tools are given, everyone remains with his own religion.

The "know-how transfer" for mind and soul in this case goes both ways. While Scientology opened Western minds for concepts like Vedanta, the systematic approach to personal development is now benefiting our people in improving their abilities.

Every part of Mr. Hubbard’s work, in such a large variety of fields, had one common denominator. That is help.

Any part of his work is a tool that helps a person improve conditions in his or her life.

For India the most important part of it may well be his education methods, called "The Technology of Study", which made many struggling students in India become some of the best in their class. These learning methods are indeed a simple and effective solution to the common problems of not being able to concentrate for a longer time on the studies, not being able to remember or understand fully, and for stress of exams and nervousness.

A student who gets familiar with Mr. Hubbard’s "Technology of Study" can deal with these difficulties at zero cost and within minutes - its power is in its simplicity. This is what opens the door for a whole new era of advancing education in India in a big way and for all.

After initial projects with SCERT Delhi and Lucknow University, renown public schools like DPS and DAV have started to discover the efficacy of his learning methods. Many more young Indians will benefit from this in the future, improving not only their exam results, but their life.

Then there are L. Ron Hubbard’s techniques in alleviating mental trauma used in disaster response activities. Border Security Force battalions in Kolkata, fire brigades in Maharashtra and CRPF units in Delhi have been trained in these methods, helping them to learn how to deal with the emotional distress of people in natural catastrophes. No less than 300 volunteers of Scientology had come to assist our forces after Tsunami in 2005.

Mr. Hubbard’s book "The Way to Happiness" - a moral code based on common sense - has been showing crores of people a path of honesty and integrity, making their life more successful and happy.

No matter what colour of skin, no matter what social or economical background, no matter what nation - his legacy is today adding quality of life and happiness for anyone who believes that help is possible.

In India several organizations are established, mainly in Delhi, making Mr. Hubbard’s developments available. Scientology has a centre in Haus Khaz. And so has the organization dealing with the Technology of Study, called Effective Education Foundation.
